Key Points
Oklahoma receiver Keontez Lewis had a scary injury during the first half of the Kent State game on Saturday.
Quarterback Michael Hawkins Jr. threw a pass to the endzone, and Lewis chased after it. Lewis made the catch, but was ruled out of bounds. However, he appeared to hit his head against the brick wall behind the end zone and was down after the play.
The receiver was later carted off the field as the team gathered around him.
Lewis is on his fourth college football program, having spent time with UCLA (2021), Wisconsin (2022-2023) and Southern Illinois (2024). He has been a reliable receiving option for the Sooners, accounting for 210 receiving yards heading into Saturday's game.

Per On3's George Stoia, Lewis was seen walking around in the training room, thankfully.
"Per Plank Show, Keontez Lewis was up and walking around back in the training room. He is doing well," he wrote.
Lewis was a former four-star recruit in the 2021 class out of East St. Louis, Illinois. He was the No. 48 receiver in the class.
At UCLA, he mainly saw the field on special teams, playing in 11 games with one start as a true freshman with no recorded stats. He then transferred to Wisconsin in 2022, where he played in 13 games for the Badgers, recording 313 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
However, his role with Wisconsin diminished in 2023, as he only played in three games before redshirting and hitting the portal. He had a massive breakout year in 2024 with Southern Illinois, leading the team with 813 receiving yards and five touchdowns.
His efforts at Southern Illinois made him the No. 77 wideout in the transfer portal this offseason.
Lewis was listed as probably ahead of the Auburn game with a concussion. The Sooners are already without quarterback John Mateer, who is recovering from hand surgery.
With Lewis' injury, this means the Sooners' main receiving options will be Deion Burks, tight end Jaren Kanak and Isaiah Sategna. Oklahoma may need sophomores Jacob Jordan and Zion Kearney to step in after the injury.
Oklahoma faces No. 9 Texas in the "Red River Rivalry" next on Oct. 11 at 3:30 p.m. ET on ABC.
