The No. 8 Alabama Crimson Tide won the SEC Championship over the No. 1 Georgia Bulldogs in Mercedes-Benz Stadium 27-24 on Saturday.

It was Alabama's first opportunity to avenge the 2021 National Championship Game loss and an opportunity to make a statement to the rest of the college football world.

"We knew we had to make our statement today. Especially when you've got guys like David Pollack saying that the standard is Georgia," said Alabama offensive lineman Tyler Booker. "The standard can only be imitated, not replicated. There's only one Alabama, there's always going to be one Alabama."

Former Georgia defensive star David Pollack was on TV in January complimenting the Georgia Bulldogs for ascending to the mountaintop of college in the middle of the Dawgs national championship blowout of the TCU Horned Frogs.

Alabama head coach Nick Saban was sitting right next to Pollack as he gave the Bulldogs the preverbal crown, but perhaps he did so a bit too soon?

Alabama rushed 114 yards and kept the Bulldogs to just 78 yards on the ground, controlling the line of scrimmage throughout the evening.

The Tide mounted drives of 92, 69 and 75 yards to establish its will over the Bulldogs defense, while the Alabama defense forced two three-and-outs and recovered a fumble throughout the intense contest.

"The message was we are the standard. There would be no Georgia without Alabama. We are the standard and we proved that today. We might have had a slow two years, but the standard is here. We are the standard. Block out what everybody else says. David Pollack, we are the standard."

The Crimson Tide must now wait on the College Football Playoff committee's choice for its playoff participants, but for now, Booker and the rest of the Alabama Crimson Tide football program can head to bed after successfully reclaiming 'The Standard' in college football.
