Deion Sanders might need to have foot amputated

University of Colorado head coach and Pro Football Hall of Famer Deion Sanders is facing the possibility of having his left foot amputated due to blood flow problems in the area.

Vascular surgeon Donald Jacobs told Sanders on Thee Pregame that these issues can "cascade" and he has to understand what the risks are. Jacobs went on to tell Colorado athlete trainer Lauren Askevold that Sanders could lose his foot entirely. 

Sanders already had two twos on the foot amputated in recent years due to blood clot issues. 

Another surgeon told Sanders that the blood pressure to his left foot is only at about 66 percent compared to his left arm, illustrating the blood flow issues he is having there. 

When he was the head coach at Jackson State Sanders had previously said he would only be able to stand for about three quarters of the game until he started to have pain in his foot and needed to find ways to keep the blood flowing. It resulted in him missing three games during his tenure as the program's head coach. 

Sanders left Jackson State following the 2022 season to take the top job at Colorado. 

He is trying to revamp a dormant program that has been one of the worst Power Five schools in the country over the past decade. The Buffaloes won just a single game a year ago. Sanders has heavily utilized the transfer portal to try and bring new talent into the program.

Before coaching, Sanders was one of the best cover cornerbacks in football history and has been inducted into both the College and Pro Football Halls of Fame.
