Former Ole Miss Rebels running back Quinshon Judkins said the legacy of the Ohio State Buckeyes is what earned his commitment.

The transfer running back told reporters during his first media availability on Tuesday that he watched the Buckeyes as a child. Additionally, Judkins said several of his favorite players at the position have come through Ohio State on their way to the National Football League (NFL).

"Growing up, Ohio State isn’t just a school you hear about that certain moment. With all the accolades they’ve had, all the great players that have come through here," Judkins said. “Some of my favorite running backs have played here."

Former Ohio State stars Ezekiel Elliott, J.K. Dobbins, and Trey Sermon were some of the names that Judkins mentioned during his time in front of the cameras.

Judkins said the resumes those three rushers compiled while wearing scarlet and gray are part of the reason he chose to come to Columbus.

"Just the idea of coming to a team where you’re playing for something that’s bigger than yourself," Judkins said. "A lot of great players have come here through the portal."

Judkins said the environment in and around Ohio State football is unlike any other in the country, serving as the final element of his decision to transfer.

In fact, Judkins said he often asked himself, "Why not Ohio State," when he was mulling offers from schools following his departure from Ole Miss.

"(Ohio State is) a place with great culture, the best coaches, the best players, the best fanbase that is very passionate about their team," Judkins said. "That was my reasoning."
