Another former Texas Longhorns assistant is heading to the NFL and joining the New Orleans Saints.

According to reports from the New Orleans Times-Picayune , former Texas defensive line coach Bo Davis will be joining the Saints in the same position under new head coach Kellen Moore.

This is now Davis' third new job in as many years, after leaving Texas for LSU ahead of the 2024 season.

In three seasons with the Horns - during his second stint with the program - Davis helped cultivate one of, if not the best, defensive lines in all of college football in the 2023 season with T'Vondre Sweat and Byron Murphy leading the way..

in 2023, the Horns ranked No. 3 in the country vs. the run, allowing just 82.36 yards per game on the ground, and holding some of the nation's best rushers - including Doak Walker Award winner Ollie Gordon - in check.

Davis also played a major role in helping to develop Murphy and Sweat into All-Americans and first-round NFL talents and was a key part of landing the Horns' efforts with top talents such as Colin Simmons along the defensive front.

Davis was also the defensive tackles coach at Texas from 2011-2013 under Mack Brown, helping develop players such as Cedric Reed, Kheeston Randall, Malcom Brown, and Hassan Ridgeway.

Davis is now the second coach with Longhorns ties to join the Saints this offseason alongside defensive backs coach Terry Joseph.

The Longhorns later replaced Joseph with Duane Akina as the new defensive passing game coordinator and defensive backs coach.
