Appalachian State-Louisiana postponed to Dec. 4 or 5 due to coronavirus

Appalachian State confirmed on Thursday that next Wednesday's game versus Louisiana has been postponed due to positive coronavirus test results and contact tracing. The schools are looking to reschedule the postponed game for Dec. 4 or 5.

The Mountaineers next play at Georgia Southern on Oct. 14. Louisiana is idle until an Oct. 17 showdown with Coastal Carolina.

Appalachian State did not disclose how many players and/or staff members tested positive. The school explained those who tested positive are isolating and that students and others exposed to the virus are quarantining.

As David M. Hale wrote for ESPN, Appalachian State and Louisiana have played for the Sun Belt title in each of the past two seasons.

Chad Dorrill, a 19-year-old Appalachian State student, recently died from complications caused by the coronavirus.
