Arch Manning Dishes on Late-Night Walmart Run With Rival SEC QB

Texas quarterback Arch Manning has been in the news quite a bit over the last week.

The Athletic released a feature on the Manning family earlier this week that touched on his upbringing, family, and some struggles he encounters at Texas. There were several interesting nuggets in the piece but one that stood out was how awkward he feels being in the spotlight when just doing normal daily tasks.

Arch's mother, Ellen, noted that Manning has called her several times while walking to class because someone from afar was notably videoing the quarterback phenom. "It’s the people who are filming him from across the quad when he walks to class. That’s the most awkward thing for him. He calls me: ‘Mom, will you just talk to me while I’m walking to class because this is so awkward. I don’t know whether to wave and smile,’” she said.

Ellen was sure to mention that Manning is always up for taking photos with fans when they ask. Manning puts off a kind demeanor and will likely be approached for autographs for pictures for the foreseeable future.

Some of those interactions happened during a late-night Walmart run with LSU quarterback Garrett Nussmeier this week. The two are rooming together at the Manning Passing Academy this weekend.

When speaking with the media on Friday, Manning said himself and Nussmier went to Walmart to stock up on food and "took a couple pictures" with fans.

Manning is preparing for his first year as the full-time starter for the Longhorns. Texas is expected to begin the season as one of the top three teams in the country with national title expectations.

With a successful year on the field in 2025, the interactions, filming, and photos that Manning experiences will only heighten.
