Arch Manning Names Teammate Who Always Beat Him to Facility

Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian has built a fantastic culture in Austin.

It's evident in nearly every interview that a Texas player appears in. One of the more recent ones involved a story shared by Arch Manning. The Manning family was featured in an article by The Athletic on Wednesday and the quarterback phenom admired his former offensive tackle Kelvin Banks Jr.

Manning strived to beat Banks to the facility but was never successful. "Kelvin (was) always the first one in, I started trying to beat him in. I'd get there 10 minutes earlier than him, but Kelvin had gotten there 20 minutes earlier. It was like this unspoken rule, no one was gonna be in before me," Manning said.

Banks was selected by the New Orleans Saints with the No. 9 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft and they clearly landed a hard worker that means business.

Manning is preparing to be Texas' full-time starter at quarterback this year after sitting behind Quinn Ewers for the last two seasons. The Longhorns will enter the 2025 college football season ranked a top-three team in the country with extremely high expectations.

Texas will not have any tune up games this year. The Longhorns will face Ohio State in Columbus for the season opener on Aug. 30.
