Arch Manning’s Uncle Downplays Major Accomplishment

Quinn Ewers saw his career with the Texas Longhorns come to a close after a 28-14 loss to the Ohio State Buckeyes in the College Football Playoff semifinals from the Cotton Bowl.

Shortly after the season ended, Ewers declared for the 2025 NFL draft, making way for backup Arch Manning to take over the starting quarterback role next season.

Manning was the top-rated prospect in the class of 2023, receiving a perfect 100 grade by 247Sports. The quarterback was dominant at Isidore Newman School (New Orleans, LA), tallying 8,539 passing yards, 115 touchdowns and just 19 interceptions.

Manning's uncles, Peyton and Eli Manning, were also stars at the same high school. In fact, during his senior season, Arch was able to break Eli's school record for the most career passing yards (7,268).

As of this week, it seems Eli is still a little unhappy that his nephew took his record. In an interview with Broadcast Boys, the crew compared Eli and Peyton's football careers. When discussing Eli's previous high school record, he downplayed Arch breaking it.

“The games changed," Eli Manning said. "He’s all shotgun. Much easier. But he earned it.”

This is not the first time Eli has trolled his family over football. After Arch made his starting debut for the Longhorns on Sept. 21 against UL Monroe, a graphic was posted of all four Mannings' (Arch, Eli, Peyton, Archie) college debut stats. And the New York Giants legend easily had the best performance.

"I win!" Eli wrote on X in September.

Arch not only broke Eli's passing yards record at Isidore Newman, but he was also able to break Peyton's school record of 93 career passing touchdowns.

Arch appeared in 10 games for the Longhorns in the 2024 season, including two starts with Ewers sidelined with an injury. In those games, he completed 61-if-90 passes for 939 yards, nine touchdowns and two interceptions while adding another four scores on the ground.

The Manning era will kick off with a Cotton Bowl rematch against Ohio State on August 30 in Columbus, Ohio.
