Arizona State offensive coordinator Marcus Arroyo is receiving national recognition heading into the 2025 season, as ESPN named him one of the top assistant coaches in college football. The list, which highlights rising stars and influential coordinators across the nation, puts Arroyo among elite company and reflects the growing optimism around the Sun Devils program.

Arroyo joined Kenny Dillingham’s staff in 2024 after previous head coaching experience at UNLV and a high-profile offensive coordinator role at Oregon. He has quickly made an impact in Tempe with his offensive system and has drawn praise from many around the sport.

The recognition comes as the Sun Devils turned the corner in Dillingham’s second year, which was Arroyo's first season, posting an 11-3 record after going 3-9 the year prior.

Before arriving at Arizona State, Arroyo was best known for his role in developing Justin Herbert during his time as offensive coordinator at Oregon (2017–2019), helping guide the Ducks to a Pac-12 Championship and Rose Bowl victory. He then spent three seasons as the head coach at UNLV, where he endured a rebuild but earned respect for his offensive schemes and player development approach.

With Sam Leavitt returning at quarterback, Arroyo’s role will be pivotal in shaping ASU’s future. As Arizona State continues to transition into a perennial competitive force in the Big 12, Arroyo’s experience and innovation could be the X-factor. If the Sun Devils show further growth in 2025, it’s likely Arroyo will be a top target on the next coaching carousel.

For now, he’s locked in on maximizing the potential of Arizona State and national recognition like this only adds to the buzz building in Tempe.
