Cam Skattebo and the No. 4 Arizona State Sun Devils fell just short of pulling off a major upset in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl on New Year's Day, falling to the No. 5 Texas Longhorns 39-31 in double overtime.

Skattebo, a former Sacramento State running back, put up one of the best performances so far in the College Football Playoff. The All-American tallied 30 carries for 143 yards and two touchdowns while adding 42 passing yards, a passing score, and eight catches for 99 yards. He also converted a two-point conversion late in the fourth.

Even with the loss, Skattebo was able to make some college football history after his incredible play.

According to OptaSTATS on X, Skattebo is the only football player this century, including FBS, FCS and NFL, to have at least 100 rushing yards, 75 receiving yards, a passing touchdown and a two-point conversion in the same game.

Skattebo and Arizona State struggled to get the offense going through the first three quarters. However, they managed to pull off a 16-point comeback in the fourth, thanks to the running back's heroics.

In overtime, the Sun Devils were able to take the lead after a three-yard Skattebo touchdown run. The ASU defense forced Texas into a 4th-and-13 situation before quarterback Quinn Ewers hit Matthew Golden for a 28-yard score, tying the game up.

In the second overtime, Texas scored on the first play of its possession and converted the two-point try. Arizona State quarterback Sam Leavitt was intercepted a few plays later, ending the game.

The Longhorns will move on to the College Football Playoff semifinal, where they will face either the No. 1 Oregon Ducks or the No. 8 Ohio State Buckeyes in the Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic.

Either way, Skattebo was the best player on the field in Atlanta and may have improved his draft stock with his historic game.
