Arizona State will start Trenton Bourguet at QB this week.
Rob Gray-USA TODAY Sports

SunDevilSource announced this morning that Trenton Bourguet will be Arizona State’s starting quarterback this week.

This came after Bourguet practiced all week, but despite that, no one was ready to call him available until now. Bourguet went down early in the first quarter against Utah. He tried to come back before halftime but was eventually shut down. It is also unknown who the backup will be if Bourguet goes down.

Trenton Bourguet has been very up and down this year, but it is clear that he has been solid while healthy. He’s 112/177 with 1195 passing yards. He only has one passing touchdown, though. He threw for 274 yards against Washington State. Bourguet’s health is huge for the Sun Devils because he gives them the best chance to win versus UCLA.

Other injury news: DeCarlos Brooks is out for the second straight game, and Prince Dorbah, ASU’s sack leader, is out with an injury he sustained against Utah.

Arizona State faces Chip Kelly’s Bruins in the Rose Bowl this Saturday night.
