Arkansas-Texas A&M Delayed Amid 'Severe' Weather Forecast

In the days leading up to Saturday's SEC showdown between Arkansas and Texas A&M, Aggies head coach Mike Elko jokingly said he would have preferred the series remain a neutral site contest.

"Well this year I wish it was at AT&T Stadium," Elko joked. "Next year, I'd probably be glad it's in Kyle Field…I'm not even sure if it's on the schedule next year. I haven't looked at it. No, obviously, every other year, it's good and bad. It's good for the campuses. It's good to have this game here at Kyle Field when it happens. I'm sure it's great for them to have the game in Fayetteville when it happens.

"The thing from a coaching perspective is when you have to go on the road, you'd way rather go play at a neutral site. When you have an opportunity to play at home, you'd rather play at home. It just kind of is what it is and you've just got to deal with it."

While he was clearly joking in the moment, Elko may have actually preferred the game be played somewhere other than Razorback Stadium today given the serious weather forecast for the area. Over three hours before the expected kickoff between the Razorbacks and Aggies, Arkansas announced the game has already been delayed.

A new kickoff time of 5:30 p.m. ET was announced.

"Due to this afternoon's weather forecast, kickoff for our game vs. Texas A&M has been moved back to 4:30 p.m. [Central Time] on ESPN," Arkansas announced.

Kickoff was originally scheduled for 3:30 p.m. ET, but "severe" weather in the area forced officials to delay the contest two hours. Wind gusts of up to 40 miles per hour and penny-sized hail are also in the forecast for much of Arkansas.
