Michigan is definitely doing a solid job with EDGE rusher types on the recruiting trail and why shouldn't they? After putting guys like Mike Danna, Kwity Paye, Chase Winovich, David Ojabo and of course, Aidan Hutchinson into the league, young, up-and-coming pass rusher are paying attention. Most recently, it's Cheshire (Conn.) Cheshire Academy four-star Jacob Smith who has the Wolverines in his final group.

The 6-3, 230-pounder dropped his top six just a day ago, and the the Wolverines made the cut along with five other major programs.

Michigan will now battle Notre Dame, Kentucky, Nebraska, Georgia and Alabama for the Connecticut native's services.

Smith actually now hails from the same school as former Michigan wide receiver Tarik Black. Obviously Black transferred to Texas, so whether that's a feather in Michigan's cap or a detriment remains to be seen. According to 247 Sports, Kentucky is currently the team to beat for Smith, but there's a whole summer of official visits and a fall full of game visits to navigate through. A lot can changed over the next several months.
