Auburn WR Getting Recognized as 'Most Underrated' Player in College Football

The Auburn Tigers labored on offense for a fifth straight season in 2024. Since 2019, Auburn has not placed inside the top half of the NCAA in terms of points per game. Nevertheless, their price offseason acquisition of 2024, Cam Coleman, demonstrated his five-star talent despite not having a five-star quarterback throwing him the ball last year.

After posting respectful numbers as a true freshman, many are on the side of a breakout season from Coleman in 2025. On a recent episode of The Andy & Ari Show via On3, hosts Andy Staples and Ari Wasserman tackled a fun offseason question: which college football stars aren't getting enough hype heading into this upcoming season?

Auburn Tigers wide receiver Cam Coleman headlined the group as he looks to lead the SEC program again in 2025.

"Another player who was incredibly productive despite the fact that he played for a team that did not have competent quarterback play," Wasserman said. He also noted Coleman's upside and first-round potential.

That first-round buzz isn't hyperbole. Coleman, a former five-star prospect and the No. 2 receiver in the 2024 class behind Ohio State's Jeremiah Smith, finished his freshman campaign with 37 catches for 598 yards and eight touchdowns, albeit on a Tigers team that struggled to move the ball through the air.

Auburn finished 28th nationally in passing offense but routinely struggled against top-end SEC competition.

Unlike last season, Coleman's first with Auburn, the Tigers will have a five-star mega prospect under center.

The Tigers landed former Oklahoma Sooners quarterback Jackson Arnold this offseason, a considerable addition to Hugh Freeze's offense and potentially the spark Coleman needs to explode into superstardom.

The fourth-ranked quarterback in the 2023 class per 247Sports, Arnold had his fair share of highlight reel throws and runs last season despite playing for a lowly Oklahoma Sooners club.

Auburn will debut their new five-star passing connection in 2025, with the sky being the limit for Coleman, per the On3 tandem.
