The Baylor Bears defensive line got a nice addition this weekend when Michigan transfer Alessandro Lorenzetti announced his plans to head west to Waco, Texas.

Lorenzetti made the news official on social media on Mother’s Day.

Lorenzetti was a three-star prospect in the 2022 class who held offers from Baylor, Duke, Georgia, Virginia Tech, Michigan State, Vanderbilt, Penn State, Syracuse and Georgia Tech before signing with the Wolverines.

Lorenzetti came to Michigan as an offensive tackle before transitioning to the defensive line. He never appeared in any games for Michigan during his time in Ann Arbor. When he committed to the Wolverines, he was the top-ranked player from Connecticut.

Lorenzetti likely didn’t have a pathway for significant playing time with Michigan, but now Dave Aranda has a nice piece to build up over his next two years of eligibility.

Baylor closed the 2024 season as one of the hottest teams in the country with six-straight wins to end the regular season with an 8-4 record before losing to LSU in the Texas Bowl. The Bears open the 2025 season on Friday, August 29th vs. Auburn.
