Baylor WR signs with Titans as UDFA
Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports

The Tennessee Titans signed former Baylor Bears wide receiver Gavin Holmes, according to KPRC’s Aaron Wilson.

Holmes joined the program in 2017. He previously attended Northwest High School in Justin, TX.

Last season, he recorded 27 receptions for 521 yards and four touchdowns. His 19.3 yards per reception was second in the Big 12, behind only Oklahoma’s Marvin Mims. In addition, Holmes was a Third-Team All-Big 12 selection as a punt returner. He returned 10 punts for 133 yards and a touchdown.

Holmes was not selected in the 2023 NFL Draft. Nevertheless, he still has upside. He has top-level speed; he ran a 4.36-second 40-yard dash at his Pro Day.

In the NFL, he can develop into a dynamic deep threat and return man in the right situation. The Titans are lacking wide receiver depth behind 2022 first-round pick Treylon Burks; the next wide receivers on their depth chart are Nick Westbrook-Ikhine, Kyle Phillips, and Chris Moore. None of those players are locked in as core pieces. If he impresses this offseason, Holmes could have a real path to playing time.
