While it’s no secret that the Big 12 Conference features some of the nation’s top athletes each and every year, it’s important to note when the league records victories over other collegiate conferences.
In a recent list from 247Sports’ Brad Crawford, one Big 12 duo earned the title of best in the nation. The list was based on a story ranking the Top 10 quarterback-wide receiver pairs in college football.
Crawford elected to roll with Arizona State’s duo of Sam Leavitt and Jordyn Tyson as best in the country, giving the Big 12 a notable victory over several Big Ten, SEC, and ACC pairs.
“As a necessity to Arizona State’s continued success in the Big 12, Sam Leavitt should see a rise in production without running back Cam Skattebo shouldering some of the offensive load this season,” Crawford said. “Keeping Jordyn Tyson on the roster was one of the offseason’s biggest wins. Leavitt was elite for Kenny Dillingham’s squad as a freshman, establishing himself as one of the nation’s top players.
“He went 4-1 against ranked teams, the lone loss coming in double-overtime to Texas in the College Football Playoff,” Crawford continued. “Leavitt’s four-touchdown outing in the Big 12 title game against Iowa State was his arrival moment nationally, and there’s more to come.”
In his first season as the starter in Tempe, Leavitt earned massive praise. According to PFF grades, he was the top-ranked quarterback in the playoffs and cemented himself as one of the faces of the Big 12 Conference.
Jordyn Tyson was unstoppable before his injury. He posted 1101 yards and 10 scores throughout the regular season, before sustaining an injury vs. Arizona and missing the Big 12 title game and ASU’s playoff run.
Running it back in 2025, it’s no surprise that the elite duo is ranked above the rest by 247Sports.
