Big 12 Fans Collectively Roast Oklahoma Football

Brent Venables must have woken up in full “revisionist mode” on Tuesday, because he dropped a line during his SEC/Big 12 comparison that’s got Big 12 Twitter blasting back. In defending Oklahoma’s tougher path now, he said: “This isn’t the old Big 12 days where Oklahoma destroys everybody every single week except one game of the year.”

That statement landed like a fart in church. Because here’s the truth: not under Venables. He was 10‑8 in Big 12 play across his tenure. The Big 12’s official account didn’t waste time clapping back, either.

And yes, Big 12 fans were quick to dunk on the memory wipe. The social media roast was swift and brutal. From mocking the claim of “destroying everybody” to pointing out the numerous losses he took to K-State, Baylor, WVU, Texas Tech, Oklahoma State, and Kansas, they had lines ready.

One SI columnist even framed it as a failure of self‑awareness. Venables was instrumental under Bob Stoops in the Sooner heyday. But to talk as if his regime carried that same dominance? That’s just ambition talking over actual record.

Let’s be blunt: Venables’ comment doesn’t just undersell the Big 12, it oversells his own legacy. It’s one thing to acknowledge the SEC is stacked. It’s another to pretend his Oklahoma teams were the standard bearers of the Big 12 when so many conference games beat him.

So yes, Big 12 fans clowned it, and rightly so. Because you can’t talk like you “destroyed everybody” when your own ledger says otherwise, he’s got a tough path ahead in the SEC. Maybe he should start by not rewriting his own history while doing it.
