The Big Ten win totals were revealed for the upcoming 2025 college football season, courtesy of FanDuel. Three teams in the conference are projected to win double digit games this season.
Will it actually happen? That remains to be seen. But one thing’s for sure, defending champion Ohio State along with Penn State and Oregon will showcase tremendous talent at the top.
Maybe there’s a sneaky bet for another team to exceed their win total or Vegas might be too high on another. Let’s dive into the Big Ten win totals.
The Buckeyes come in as the defending champions in college football. The monkey is officially off Ryan Day’s back.
But can he do it again? This team in 2025 is very talented, but likely not as talented as last year’s squad. Could the record end up being better at 11-1 going into the postseason? Maybe so! But the next team on the list is coming with a vengeance.
Penn State brings back Drew Allar, Kaytron Allen and Nick Singleton. The offense should have no issues this fall.
It’s a matter of finally taking the biggest step in James Franklin’s tenure and that could include winning another Big Ten title. This team got to the CFP semifinals last year. Can they win it all this season?
Oregon was undefeated until losing in the College Football Playoff quarterfinals as the top seed last season. The Ducks have to replace some key figures, but they should contend for the Big Ten again.
Dan Lanning has pushed all the right buttons during his short tenure with the Ducks. But this year could start the championship or bust mentality moving forward.
Michigan is the first team in the Big Ten that does not have a double-digit win total per FanDuel. There’s no doubt there’s been some improvements on paper, but the Wolverines still lost a lot to the NFL from an 8-4 2024 campaign.
Sherrone Moore will be suspended for at least two games based on the self-imposed punishment. If the defense plays at a high level, Michigan could exceed this win total if it gets above-average QB play.
Indiana might come back down to Earth this season after nearly stealing the Big Ten last year. Sure, they ran up against Ohio State, but still made the College Football Playoff.
What does Curt Cignetti have for a follow-up campaign? It might not be totally surprising to see this team finish 9-3, hitting the over.
Bret Bielema had quite a squad last season, but Vegas is a little hesitant on the Illini within the Big Ten next season. Luke Altmyer is back at QB, so Illinois could have it better than most.
They’re in the upper tier of the Big Ten, which is good from a betting standpoint. And since the total is below eight, it might be worth a flyer.
The Hawkeyes always seem to overperform under Kirk Ferentz. This season could be no different.
He’s been in the Big Ten long enough and eight wins seems reasonable for Iowa this year. Mark Gronowski is the new quarterback and could unlock a solid passing game, finally.
USC’s win total just shows the lower expectations for the Trojans within the Big Ten. Lincoln Riley hasn’t exactly lost faith, but the bar is a bit lower now.
Getting to 10 wins would be monumental based on the last couple of years. So, is it logical to bet on the over here? Maybe. But USC needs a lot of improvement on defense.
Matt Rhule might be turning the corner here. Dylan Raiola has a chance to emerge as one of the best quarterbacks in the Big Ten.
Based on the schedule, eight wins is a doable number for Nebraska. The toughest games on the schedule right now might be at Penn State in November and an earlier tilt at home against Michigan.
Washington gutted out six wins last year to get to a bowl game. Now going into Year 2 under Jedd Fisch, also Year 2 in the Big Ten, Washington has bigger expectations.
Games against Ohio State, Michigan, Illinois, Wisconsin and Oregon look like the toughest ones. Not to mention going to Washington State in September. Maybe the under hits, but this is going to be close.
