Bill Belichick Breaks Silence After ‘False Narrative’ Interview

Bill Belichick had one of the most notable moments of his post-New England Patriots career when he went on CBS Sunday Morning to promote his new book, only for the attention to completely shift towards the influence of his new 24 year old girlfriend, Jordan Hudson.

Hudson proverbially "stole the show"; so much so that CBS even included moments of her behind-the-scenes interrupting the program and giving question-answering advice to her new beau, Belichick.

And after much backlash online, including rumors that the 8 x Super Bowl champion's new employers, the University of North Carolina, might be concerned, Belichick has finally released a statement.

Belichick's words notes that this and any other "promotional interviews" he would take part in agreed "to focus solely on the contents of the book".

He notes that he was "surprised when unrelated topics were introduced" and that Belichick "repeatedly expressed to the reporter" that he "preferred to keep the conversation centered on the book."

The former Patriots head coach maintains that CBS presented a false narrative; that Hudson was not "deflecting any specific question or topic but simply doing her job to ensure the interview stayed on track", and that the final eight-minute cut did not do justice to the otherwise beneficial interview Tony Dokoupil had with Belichick.

It is easy for editors and producers to alter stories with just a few clip alterations, deliberately antagonizing individuals and generating storylines out of thin air.

However, CBS Sunday Morning's motif is not that of a "gotcha" type show. It is a family-friendly, feel-good piece of Sunday morning television. Perhaps they broke character for what was one of the bigger guests they have had, or maybe there is more to the story than is currently out there.
