Cincinnati Bearcats quarterback Brendan Sorsby is one of the biggest names to land in the NCAA Transfer Portal. With one year of eligibility remaining, he is looking for a new home after spending the last two years with the Bearcats. This would be his second transfer as he joined the program after spending two years with the Indiana Hoosiers. Sorsby finished his 2025 season completing 207 of 336 (61.6%) of his passes for 2,800 yards with 27 passing touchdowns to five interceptions. He also ran the football 100 times for 580 yards (5.8 yards per attempt) with nine rushing touchdowns.
Let’s take a deeper dive into three programs that could be potential landing spots for the redshirt junior in the NCAA Transfer Portal this offseason.
The Miami Hurricanes are no strangers to being aggressive in the NCAA Transfer Portal and landing a quarterback. The team has added a transfer quarterback in their last two seasons with Cam Ward and Carson Beck, so they are willing to land a big-name quarterback for a one-season push. With Beck heading into the 2026 NFL Draft, the Hurricanes are going to be in the market for another quarterback and Sorsby fits the mold. Coach Mario Cristobal has shown the ability to be able to work with quarterbacks to step up in the offense.
After a berth in the CFP, they are not going to want to take their foot off the gas. This move would indicate just that for both sides.
After a change in leadership, Lane Kiffin is going to want to begin his tenure with a bang. Quarterback Garrett Nussmeier does not have any NCAA eligibility remaining, so he is not an option and Ole Miss QB Trinadad Chambliss is facing a complicated process to get an additional year of eligibility. If that falls through, the Tigers could sit there without a legitimate threat under center. Sorsby fits the mold and would be an excellent addition to a loaded offensive team in the SEC.
The College Football Playoff indicated the Texas Tech Red Raiders could be a legitimate force going forward. However, quarterback Behren Morton is out of NCAA eligibility, so there will be an opening with the Big 12 Champions. Sorsby fits what the program needs as a legitimate threat as one of the top quarterbacks in the NCAA Transfer Portal. This would be an intriguing fit as the Red Raiders were 10th in passing during this season, so the offense is going to be looking to throw the ball down the field, so this would be a perfect spot for him. It also doesn’t help that he is a Texas native to throw that in as well.
