Brian Kelly and the LSU Tigers appear to be on the verge of landing a commitment from a key 2026 in-state recruit.
On3's Steve Wilftong predicted this week that LSU will land a commitment from 2026 three-star safety Isaiah Washington.
"LSU could be closing in on a commitment from in-state safety Isaiah Washington and I’ve logged an On3 RPM to reflect that," wrote Wiltfong on Monday.
Washington, 6-foot-2/170 lbs from Haynesville, LA, is rated by On3 as the No. 33 safety in the nation and the No. 12 player in the state of Louisiana.
The Louisiana native also has notable offers from Arkansas, Baylor, Texas Tech, and Tulane.
Arkansas appears to be the biggest threat to LSU for Washington. The Razorbacks, in fact, were viewed as the favorites for the three-star safety until last month. But that changed when LSU offered Washington on May 22.
Now that the Tigers have signaled that they want Washington in Baton Rouge, it's hard to see Arkansas winning this battle.
Washington plans to announce his commitment on July 4.
