The LSU Tigers have been no stranger to adding talent during the transfer portal openings this offseason. As for high school recruiting, they remain committed to adding notable talent through that route as well.
For their 2026 HS class, they may be able to rekindle a commitment that they already lost once.
2026 DL JaReylan McCoy is down to three schools for his recruitment process. LSU, Florida, and Texas are the contenders for his commitment, according to his latest update. He will announce his decision on July 1st, according to Hayes Fawcett.
Before he makes that announcement, the 6-foot-6, 245-pounder will travel to all three of those schools, and a planned June 6 trip to the home state Ole Miss Rebels is now unlikely to happen. Additionally, McCoy has seemingly ruled out Auburn, who was once a finalist and had also planned for him to officially visit earlier in May. -- 247Sports

I actually discussed McCoy in early January for the Tigers.
He committed to LSU near the start of the new year but changed course over the past handful of months. Now, they're once again a potential landing spot for the gargantuan defensive lineman.
He also mentioned that he's "locked in" with this decision. McCoy is a massive defender at 6'7. He's from Mississippi but never had strong ties on the recruiting trail with Ole Miss or Mississippi State. LSU began recruiting McCoy in eighth grade. - A to Z Sports
#LSU’s recruiting trail is turning up the heat, as several big targets have set commitment dates for the summer:

July 1st➡️4⭐️ DL JaReylan McCoy
July 4th➡️4⭐️ WR Boobie Feaster
July 6th➡️4⭐️ CB Chauncey Kennon
July 10th➡️5 ATH Lamar Brown

As of now, LSU is planned as McCoy's final visit ahead of commitment day. That can be a good sign, considering the level of program that LSU is. They will get the final chance to prove they're where McCoy belongs at the CFB level.
This second chance for Brian Kelly and co. cannot go unnoticed. They need to improve their DL depth through their 2026 class and getting McCoy back on board could be a huge step in that direction.
