The Auburn Tigers are entering a crucial year under head coach Hugh Freeze, who has yet to have a winning season with the program.

Before the 2025 season kicks off, the Tigers received a prediction from Rivals' Sam Spiegelman about a committed prospect he believes is planning to flip.

Former Texas Longhorns defensive lineman Vernon Broughton is now in the NFL after a successful college career, but his brother, Isaiah, is committed to UNLV. Spiegelman predicted the younger Broughton would be an Auburn pledge soon.

Vernon played for the Longhorns from 2020-24 and is now a rookie with the New Orleans Saints.

Broughton is a three-star defensive lineman in the Rivals Industry Rankings for the 2026 class. He is a native of Cypress, Texas, and attends Cy Ridge High School. The prospect comes in at 6-foot-4, 315 pounds.

While he has been committed to UNLV since July 6, the Rivals Recruiting Prediction Machine gives the Tigers a 99.1% chance to pull off the flip.

He also holds offers from Texas State, the SMU Mustangs, Texas Tech Red Raiders, Vanderbilt Commodores, Oklahoma State Cowboys, Memphis and UTEP.

For Auburn, it would be nice to be on the winning end of a prospect flip. This offseason, the Tigers have lost multiple commits from the 2026 class by way of the flip.

Auburn lost four-star linebacker Shadarius Toodle to the Georgia Bulldogs and four-star receiver Denairius Gray to the Kentucky Wildcats this offseason. Other recruits the program has lost include four-star receiver Devin Carter to the Florida State Seminoles.

Freeze's third year starts with the Baylor Bears on August 29.
