Michigan true freshman quarterback Bryce Underwood is already feeling the heat that comes with being one of college football’s most hyped recruits and not just on the field.
Speaking to The Wolverine at the 3rd Annual Champions Circle Golf Classic at The Cardinal in Plymouth, Michigan, Underwood opened up about the occasional chaos of social media and how fans can say just about anything, even when it makes no sense.
"[Someone said I was] fat… I was just sitting there confused,” Underwood said with a laugh. “It gets to a point, y'know?"
The remark may have caught him off guard, but it also highlights the intense scrutiny that comes with being a five-star quarterback at a blue-blood program like Michigan.

Underwood is listed at 6-foot-4 and 208 pounds according to his bio on Michigan football's website.
After famously flipping his commitment from LSU to the Wolverines last November, Underwood has carried enormous expectations into his first season in Ann Arbor.
Underwood is expected and will assume the starting role right away. The pressure is on, and fans, both supportive and critical, are watching his every move, on and off the field.
Despite the outside noise, Underwood appears focused and composed. While he acknowledged that social media can be a distraction, he made it clear that he’s learned to tune out the nonsense and stay grounded.
The viral comments may continue, but if Underwood plays up to his talent level, Michigan fans will have far more flattering things to say by season’s end. Until then, he's just learning to laugh off the wild world of internet trolls.
