BYU suffers its first loss to Oregon. After a sloppy game, and some key players missing BYU loses to Oregon. The Cougars were without Puka Nacua, Gunner Romney, Tyler Batty, and Earl Tuioti-Mariner. It was just a hard game and Oregon played well. BYU had some mistakes and also the defense struggled today. The Cougars before the game ran onto the field with a flag with the Oregon O and name and number. This was in honor of their player who died this past summer in a rock climbing incident. They also placed flowers on the 4-yard line.

Players who stood out

Kody Epps

Epps had a big game as he was the one who stepped up for wide receivers this weekend. He had five receptions for 45 yards and one touchdown.

Ben Bywater

Bywater came up big when the defense couldn’t find their footing. He had seven tackles and one interception.

Players with a Big Game

Isaac Rex

Rex is back and had a game for the Cougars and also had a touchdown. He also had two receptions for 32 yards.

Jaren Hall

Hall was doing it all today. He was 29/41 and 305 yards with two touchdowns. Hall also rushed for 19 yards in todays game.

Takeaways

Offense

Nothing was working for the Cougars on offense today. Without Romney and Nacua the passing game just never got going. The running game struggled again this week. Katoa has really lead the running backs during the last three weeks.

 Defense

The defense started out looking really bad then they finally got some nice hits and started looking a little better. Also without some key starters on the line BYU struggled blocking the run game and Oregon plays best when their run game gets going.

Special teams

Another tough week for the kicking game. Jake Oldroyd missed another and is really struggling with making field goals. Great to have Hobbs Nyberg back returning kicks for the Cougars he had a good game.
