On Monday, the 30-day transfer portal window opened for all college football players. Here's an updated look at the transfers in and out of the BYU football program as of 12/5/23 at 8:00 AM MT.
Only one player has transferred to BYU in this transfer cycle. This list will grow over the next few months.
Sam Vander Haar - Punter
BYU picked up its first transfer portal commitment of the recruiting cycle on Wednesday when Australian punter Sam Vander Haar committed to the Cougars. Vander Haar, who originally signed with Pitt where he played in 2022, entered the transfer portal after Spring ball last season.
Vander Haar won the starting punter job as a true freshman at Pitt before the 2022 season. He appeared in all but two games that season where he punted 30 times averaging 38.5 yards per punt.
Five BYU players have entered the transfer portal.
John Henry Daley - DL
Michael Daley - DL
Dom Henry - WR
Austin Riggs - LS
Sol-Jay Maiava-Peters - QB
The transfer portal window officially opened on Monday. Until Monday, only graduate transfers and players whose coaches had left their current programs could enter the transfer portal. From December 4, 2023 to January 2, 2024, the transfer portal will be open to everyone. Every college football program in the country can expect to lose at least a few players to the portal. BYU will be no exception.
