Calls Mount For Alabama WR Ryan Williams To Transfer After Loss To Michigan

Kalen DeBoer and the No. 11 Alabama Crimson Tide fell short of expectations in the 2024 college football season.

After failing to make the SEC Championship Game and the College Football Playoff, Alabama fell to the Michigan Wolverines 19-13 in the ReliaQuest Bowl on Tuesday after being 16.5-point favorites (ESPN BET).

Jalen Milroe and the Crimson Tide offense couldn't get much going. In the first half alone, the junior quarterback threw an interception and lost two fumbles. Freshman sensation Ryan Williams didn't have much of an impact as well, recording just three catches for eight yards. This marked the young wide receiver's worst statistical game of his young college career.

Williams was named an All-American during his true freshman season in Tuscaloosa. However, after the ugly loss to Michigan, many fans believe the 17-year-old should enter his name into the transfer portal with the Crimson Tide's future looking bleak.

These fans took to social media to call for Williams' transfer, especially if Milroe elects to return to Alabama instead of declaring for the 2025 NFL draft.

"Ryan Williams should transfer to Michigan," added another.

"Dear Ryan Williams please transfer! Roll tide don’t deserve you," wrote a third.

"Jalen Milroe is gonna come back to Bama for another year and Ryan Williams will enter the transfer portal!" commented a fourth.

"Milroe is not a good QB, Ryan Williams will take a transfer I think," posted a fifth.

"If I was Ryan Williams I would want to know if there's going to be a different QB next year or not. Because Williams should transfer if Milroe is back," added another user.

Williams finished the season with 48 catches for 865 yards and eight touchdowns. Although his statistics weren't eye-popping, the wideout did enough to show off his incredible potential and became one of the more exciting players in the SEC.

Still, it seems unlikely that Williams will transfer before the 2025 season.
