The final 2024-2025 College Football Playoff bracket announcement is expected to take place on Sunday, December 8, one day after a full slate of conference championship games on Saturday.
With so much at stake and so many teams vying for position, Auburn football legend and former Super Bowl participant Cam Newton decided to vent his frustrations on the new format.
Newton made the scathing comments on the popular ESPN show 'First Take' as he laid into the new format and teams that are expected to participate in it.
"Yes I do, like we have to stop," Newton said when asked if he has issues with the new format.
"Imma say it...A lot of people are thinking (it), and I'm going to say it...Nobody wants to see SMU, nobody wants to see Arizona State, nobody wants to see Indiana, nobody wants to see Boise State, straight up," Newton said.
"I just think we really need to consider teams' strength of schedule, when we're talking about the national championship," he continued. "Do you, or have you really earned the right to say that, playing the tier of talent that you've played?"
Newton said he doesn't want to see Boise State, intimating that he's skeptical that Broncos star running back Ashton Jeanty will have similar success against a top tier high major university like Georgia.
"...It's your weight class. Understand your weight class. You good, but you ain't that good yet. Boise State is not on the same trajectory. Arizona State is not on the same trajectory. Respectful to Indiana...When they played Ohio State, you've seen who they really are."
