Chris Fowler Sends Message to Kirk Herbstreit After Retiring From CFP Rankings Show

Throughout the last few decades, Kirk Herbstreit has established himself as arguably the biggest media celebrity in college football.

Herbstreit is widely known for his analytical discussions on the ESPN "College GameDay " show, but he has also made a name for himself as a color commentator in the booth and a member of the College Football Playoff rankings show.

While Herbstreit continues to give his insight on "College GameDay" and cover a few primetime games each season, he has since retired from the College Football Playoff rankings show.

He briefly spoke on that decision alongside booth partner Chris Fowler while covering a matchup between Alabama and LSU in Week 11.

“I retired from that," Herbstreit explained. "Yeah... It'll be Boog (Booger McFarland)... Joseph Scott Galloway and Greg (McElroy)."

In a recent video posted on Herbstreit's Instagram account, Fowler discussed the CFP outlook.

While the two attempted to explain which teams should be in and out of the postseason, Fowler turned to Herbstreit and mentioned that the video from Instagram Live is now his version of the CFP show.

“This is not the Tuesday show, but this is kind of like your version of the Tuesday CFP,” Fowler said. “My man graduated. Congratulations on graduating.”

While Herbstreit spent a few years on the show, he has now passed the baton to the rest of the crew, which features Rece Davis, Joey Galloway, Greg McElroy and Booger McFarland.

This panel will discuss the rankings on Tuesday at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN, sharing their thoughts on how many teams from different conferences will get a bid, who will be the favorite to win their respective conference and more.

Herbstreit may no longer be on Tuesday's College Football Playoff rankings show, but he's still working alongside one of the most well-known television panels in football.

The longtime ESPN analyst will be in College Station, Texas, in Week 14, covering a matchup between the Texas Longhorns and Texas A&M Aggies.

He'll be joined by Rece Davis, Nick Saban, Pat McAfee, Desmond Howard and Lee Corso.
