LSU football player Chris Hilton talked about what Spring football means to him. He said, “For me, it’s probably just trying to stay healthy. That’s been the biggest thing these past couple of years for me. Just staying healthy but also just trying to establish myself. Because being injured, you’re kind of out [of] the way.”

Hilton also spoke about Garett Nussmeier in his second year as starting quarterback. He said, “I mean, there’s always going to be growth and I think he’s put himself in a good position.”

Hilton continued by saying, “[The] one thing I would say I’ve seen is his leadership qualities. Just being able to rally everybody together and get us going.”

Hilton also spoke about what he’d learned from missing most of last season from injury. He said, “I learned that you and God don’t operate on the same clock. I mean, I went from high to low real quick. It wasn’t part of my plan but it was a part of his. Even when I came back, I was so pressed to go out there and try to make plays because that’s who I am. But he still told me not just yet. Then you saw the last two games. I mean really, you just gotta have faith in God. That’s what I say.”

Hilton is one half of LSU’s newest power couple. Chris and star basketball player and rapper Flau’Jae Johnson announced around Christmas time that they were dating. In their first public message about the relationship, they shared an artistic photo shoot where they recreated a famous scene from “Love & Basketball”.
