Every year, Bruce Feldman of The Athletic and FOX releases one of college football’s most anticipated preseason traditions — the Freaks List, highlighting the nation’s most physically gifted players. This year, Clemson’s Peter Woods didn’t just make the cut. He dominated it.
Woods landed at No. 5 on Feldman’s 2025 Freaks List, earning the recognition thanks to his elite combination of size, strength, and explosiveness that’s left coaches, scouts, and even Feldman himself in awe.
At 6-foot-3 and 310 pounds, Woods registered 240 pounds of lean muscle in a recent body composition scan — an absurd 77 percent. He also ran a blazing 4.86-second 40-yard dash, vertical jumped 33 inches, bench pressed 490 pounds, and threw up 34 reps of 225 on the bench press. Oh, and he squatted 700 pounds and power cleaned 385. For a 300-plus pound lineman, those are video game numbers.
“He’s special,” Feldman wrote. “Don’t be surprised if Woods ends up as a top-5 NFL Draft pick when he leaves Clemson.”
Woods has backed up his athletic traits with strong production. After a Freshman All-American season in 2023, he split time between defensive end and tackle in 2024, tallying 32 tackles (8.5 for loss), three sacks, and a forced fumble in 11 games. He even played fullback in Clemson’s jumbo offensive package.
Before each season, @BruceFeldmanCFB releases his Freaks List, which chronicles the strongest, fastest and most physical players in college football.

From winning four state titles in Alabama to becoming one of Dabo Swinney’s most dominant defensive weapons, Woods continues to grow into a national star. With another season ahead in Death Valley, he’s on track to become one of the top defensive players in the country — and a future early first-round NFL Draft pick.
