There are several quarterbacks with big-time potential entering the 2025 college football season. Whether they are first-year starters looking to impress or some of the many experienced signal-callers coming back to add to their legacy, this year is shaping up to be a boon for the position.

Clemson Tigers quarterback Cade Klubnik is viewed as one of the top returning starters in the country. The 21-year-old is one of the elder statesmen at the position, given that he has played in 37 games in his career.

When discussing his final year at Clemson with On3's Pete Nakos, Klubnik tipped his cap as a show of respect to a few quarterbacks, including Texas Longhorns quarterback Arch Manning.

"Guys like Arch [Manning], Garrett Nussmeier, Drew Allar and Ty Simpson... . The guys that believe in the program and believe in the culture that they’re at. ... There’s a reason that those are four of the best quarterbacks in college football right now."

Manning will be entering his first season as the Longhorns' starter at quarterback after taking a back seat to Quinn Ewers last year. The 21-year-old has waited his turn after being one of the top players in the country as part of the 2023 recruiting class.

Last season, Manning passed for 939 yards, nine touchdowns and two interceptions in limited playing time. He also added 108 rushing yards and four scores on the ground.

In response to Klubnik's comment, the internet was mostly in agreement in the comment section.

"I don’t think he’s wrong either. I think all these kids that hit the transfer portal more than once have development issues and won’t pan out in the NFL. Staying and developing in one system still counts for something," said one fan.

"Preach ️," said another.

"Amen," read another reply.

"Same OC + QB provides insane dividends. You’re higher up on the learning curve plus you’ve already performed," pointed out one fan.

"Honestly? W take," commented another.

But not everyone was so impressed.

"Not all quarterbacks are so privileged in high school to get offers from top schools. The portal was created to reward players who work hard and develop later to reach interest from top schools. Dumb post," a fan explained.

Last year, Klubnik and Clemson had their season ended in the first round of the College Football Playoff with a 38-24 loss to Texas; however, Ewers was the Longhorns' quarterback in that contest.

Manning and the Longhorns will have to prove themselves right away as their Week 1 matchup is on the road against the Ohio State Buckeyes on Aug. 30 at noon ET. Clemson will host the LSU Tigers in a marquee matchup at 7:30 p.m. ET Aug. 30.
