Coastal Carolina is a sweet CFB same-game parlay for Sat. 9/3

A little over a month ago we gave you our top Can't-Miss College Football Over/Under bets, and so far, the teams that have played a game — Northwestern and Nebraska — are trending in the directions we thought they would. One of those other teams that we mentioned to bet the over on — Coastal Carolina — plays its first game of the year on Saturday, and not only should you bet them to win, but include them in a same-game parlay (SGP), too.

We took Coastal Carolina to finish with at least eight wins this season, and defeating a one-dimensional offensive Army team should be very little trouble for the Chanticleers. That's why we're not taking CC just to win on Saturday, we're taking them to cover the -2.5 spread, too.

Make no mistake about it, if Grayson McCall elected to enter last year's NFL Draft instead of return for his senior season, we wouldn't be all that high on CC. But that's not what happened, and CC's last year with one of the best quarterbacks in all of college football should be just as successful as the last two have been.

Coastal Carolina averaged the fifth-most points (40.9) last year, while Army — a team that averaged the second-fewest passing yards in the nation (94.8) — is in for a tall task against McCall and the Chanticleers' explosive offense. McCall set a new NCAA Division 1 FBS passing efficiency rating last year, and is the active career leader among all NCAA Division 1 FBS quarterbacks in passing efficiency.

It gets better though. McCall is 20-2 as a starter over the last two seasons and CC is one of just six teams to post back-to-back double-digit win seasons in the last two seasons.

So, what did we learn? Not only is McCall really good, so is Coastal Carolina. That's why taking Coastal Carolina to win by just three points against a team that hardly throws the ball is a no-brainer.

No doubt Army can run the ball and is coming off a 9-win season last year, but they simply don't have the offensive firepower or to keep up with CC.

As for the last leg of our parlay — Coastal Carolina over 6.5 first-half points — that's a no-brainer, too. Heck, McCall and the Chanticleers might put up seven on their first offense series. CC scored at least seven points in the first half of every game except one last year, and with McCall back, this offense may just be even better than they were a year ago. Now Coastal might possess the ball less times than they're accustomed to because Army loves to run the ball and drain the clock, but still, seven first-half points shouldn't be an issue for the Chanticleers.

SGP Bet: Coastal Carolina (-2.5) vs. Army AND Coastal Carolina over 6.5 first-half points (+105 odds via DraftKings)

Bet: $100 to win $105
