College coach suspends all football activities after rap video filmed in locker room

Florida A&M football coach Willie Simmons has suspended all football-related activities with the team after a rap video from Real Boston Richey was released featuring the team's locker room and several players.

The program has also launched an investigation into how the locker room was accessed.

Simmons said that while he supports free speech, the language used in the video is not consistent with the program's values and he hopes the team can learn from the mishap.

More from Simmons in a statement he posted on Twitter:

"It is a privilege to wear the orange and green and as a football program, our young men have failed to live up to the standard set before us. They will all learn from this mishap and we will continue to work hard every day to become the best version of ourselves and continue to make Rattler Nation proud. As a result of this unfortunate situation, I am suspending all football-related activities until further notice."

Along with Simmons' opposition to the usage of the locker room and the language, Real Boston Richey was also wearing a FAMU shirt and one of the team's football helmets. There are licensing issues at play there for unauthorized use of the team's logo.

Florida A&M went 9-2 in the SWAC during the 2022 season, winning each of its final nine games after dropping the first two of the season.

The Rattlers are scheduled to open their 2023 schedule against Jackson State.

Simmons is entering his sixth season as the program's head football coach.
