College Football Analyst Names No. 1 WR Transfer as Someone Who is a Confidence Builder

The Auburn Tigers have the No. 3 transfer class in the SEC, according to On3 Sports this offseason.

Former Oklahoma Sooners quarterback Jackson Arnold, former Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets receiver Eric Singleton Jr and former Virginia Tech Hokies offensive tackle Xavier Chaplin highlighted the Tigers' transfer class.

On a recent episode of "The Hard Count," JD PicKell called Singleton a confidence builder for Arnold and could help lower turnovers.

Singleton was the No. 1 receiver in the On3 Transfer Portal Industry Rankings. He had 1,468 receiving yards and nine touchdowns from 2023-24.

PicKell believed a weapon like Singleton could limit the mistakes by winning matchups and making things easier for Arnold.

"Having Eric Singleton as a consistent matchup winner, to me, manufactures easy touches," PicKell said. "Easy touches for a quarterback to a playmaker like Singleton, builds confidence, gets him in rhythm. What I just said. Confidence, good things happen, your offense starts to hum."

Auburn had a turnover margin of (-9) last season, which ranked 120th in college football.

It is no secret that Arnold struggled with turnovers in 2024. He threw three interceptions, but also had nine fumbles with the Oklahoma Sooners last season.

The former Oklahoma quarterback was benched three games into the season after struggling in the first half of the Tennessee Volunteers game. Arnold threw one interception and lost two fumbles, resulting in Michael Hawkins Jr. coming on in relief.

PicKell believed that the key to unlocking Auburn's offensive potential relied heavily on Arnold's ability to stop causing turnovers.

The 2025 season is still a few months away, but the recruiting trail is still hot. Unfortunately for Auburn, the recent news has not been good. The Tigers missed out on five-star running back Ezavier Crowell, who committed to the Alabama Crimson Tide.

Singleton, Arnold and the Tigers open the 2025 season with the Baylor Bears on August 29.
