The College Football Playoff officially begins on Friday night as No. 10 Indiana and No. 7 Notre Dame face off in South Bend.
The other three first-round games take place on Saturday as the field will shrink from 12 to eight. The Saturday slate starts with No. 11 SMU vs. No. 6 Penn State, then No. 5 Texas facing No. 12 Clemson and No. 8 Ohio State taking on No. 9 Tennessee.
The top four seeds have first-round byes: No. 1 Oregon, No. 2 Georgia, No. 3 Boise State and No. 4 Arizona State.
With the college football transfer portal spiraling out of control, even the teams in the CFP have not been exempt from some key losses.
All 12 programs have lost numerous players, but one school leads the way with 12 departures so far: the Arizona State Sun Devils.
Kenny Dillingham has led Arizona State to a Big 12 Conference title in the program's first year after leaving the Pac-12, and it's just Dillingham's second season as the head coach in Tempe.
Even with Arizona State preparing for the CFP, the program has 12 players on the way out. Here is the entire list, per 247Sports.
Out of the 12 departures, three are four-star players -- Tapp, Martin and Wilson. The rest are three-star players, but that's still a decent amount of losses for a team in the College Football Playoff.
Arizona State has added two players thus far in the portal, WR Noble Johnson from Clemson and kicker Jesus Gomez from Eastern Michigan.
Arizona State will face the winner of Saturday's Clemson-Texas game in the Peach Bowl at 1 p.m. ET on Jan. 1 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. The game will be broadcast on ESPN.
