After one season as a backup quarterback for the South Carolina Gamecocks, Robby Ashford is transferring to join the Wake Forest Demon Deacons.
This season, Ashford started one game against the Akron Zips. He passed for 243 yards, two touchdowns, and added 133 rushing yards with a score on the ground.
After a redshirt year spent with the Oregon Ducks, Ashford transferred to Auburn. The 6-foot-2, 229-pound signal-caller spent two seasons with the Tigers before transferring to South Carolina after the 2023 season.
He spent most of the 2022 season as Auburn's starter before the Tigers moved on to Patrick Thorne for the 2023 season.

The Demon Deacons will have several options at quarterback next year after Michael Kern and Hank Bachmeier finished their eligibility this season.
Wake Forest retains Jeremy Hecklinsky and Tyler Mizzell. Head coach Jake Dickert added former Washington State commit Steele Pizzella and signed Elijiah Oehlke.
Ashford should have an opportunity to start with Wake Forest, given his experience. Over his three seasons of playing time, Ashford has completed 160-of-309 passes for 2,082 yards, 11 touchdowns and nine interceptions. He also rushed for 1,154 yards on 240 carries for 14 touchdowns.
Although 19 players have exited Wake Forest via the transfer portal, Dickert has begun to improve the roster by securing five portal commitments since January 2.
