Cam Skattebo could make an intriguing addition during the 2025 NFL Draft.
The former Arizona State running back will turn pro with considerable buzz after a breakout performance in the Peach Bowl. Skattebo's physical running style may quickly make him a fan favorite at his next destination.
According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Skattebo concluded the pre-draft process by visiting the Detroit Lions and Tennessee Titans. He previously made top-30 visits with the Arizona Cardinals, Cleveland Browns, and New York Giants.
A no-star high school recruit, Skattebo spent two seasons at Sacramento State before transferring to Arizona State. He tallied 2,316 scrimmage yards and 24 touchdowns during his senior year.
Skattebo carried the Sun Devils to the Big 12 title with 208 yards and three touchdowns in a 45-19 win over Iowa State. If everyone hadn't noticed him yet, they did during the College Football Playoff.
On New Year's Day, Skattebo nearly vaulted ASU to an epic comeback win over Texas. He amassed 143 rushing yards, 99 receiving yards, and a 42-yard touchdown pass in a memorable overtime loss.
Skattebo still won't top any draft boards in a 2025 running back class led by Ashton Jeanty and Omarion Hampton. Most analysts and mock drafts peg him as a potential third or fourth-round selection.
The Athletic's Dane Brugler rates Skattebo the No. 12 running back, and Bleacher Report's Dame Parson called him "a bigger and more physical Kyren Williams."
During a recent Arizona Sports radio appearance, Mel Kiper Jr. called Skattebo " a hard one to project." The ESPN draft guru isn't sure how an NFL team will deploy him, but he thinks the 5-foot-9 back deserves some type of role.
"I like the kid. You got to love the way he plays," Kiper said. "Just the way he attacks everything and goes about his business. I think he's probably, to me, a late Day 2, early Day 3 type of guy. But that's the kind of kid I would like to have on my team ... You want a warrior like that on your team."
Skattebo likely won't be selected during Thursday night's opening round, but he should get picked on Friday or Saturday.
