Class of 2026 tight end and longtime Tennessee Volunteers commit Carson Sneed announced Wednesday that he'll no longer take an official visit with the Colorado Buffaloes on June 13.
It may have been a long shot anyway for coach Deion Sanders to flip the Nashville, Tennessee, native's commitment away from the Volunteers, but the Buffs are now likely out on Sneed's recruitment. Sneed, a four-star prospect, also canceled his official visit with the UCLA Bruins, previously scheduled for the weekend of May 16.
"After lots of prayer and consideration I have decided it’s best for me and my family to cancel my OV’s to Colorado and UCLA," Sneed wrote on X. "Thank y'all for the opportunity and will be wishing y'all the best!"
The 6-foot-5.5, 235-pound prospect still plans on visiting Ole Miss (May 30), Miami (June 6) and Tennessee (June 20) in the coming weeks. Tennessee earned Sneed's commitment in August, but the in-state recruit is still performing his due diligence as his senior season at Donelson Christian Academy looms
“I am still committed, but just exploring my options and making sure I do what is best for me,” Sneed told On3 last month. "These schools are trying to convince me to pick their school,” he added. “It is about the relationships, the offense and how they would use me. I am still committed to Tennessee, so I just have to decide what is best for me. It is about getting developed me for me and seeing who will give me the best shot.”
North Carolina might be the school with the best chance of flipping Sneed. His older brother, wide receiver Dayton Sneed, transferred from Tennessee to North Carolina last month, and Carson visited Chapel Hill soon after.
According to the 247Sports composite rankings, Carson Sneed is the No. 13 tight end in his class and the No. 7 prospect in Tennessee. He closed his junior season at Donelson Christian with 33 catches for 409 yards and six touchdowns, helping the Wildcats to 10 wins. Defensively, Sneed recorded 44 total tackles, 10 TFLs, three sacks and an interception.

Colorado currently owns one class of 2026 commitment in three-star EDGE Domata Peko Jr., the son of CU defensive line coach Domata Peko. However, the Buffs hosted several top recruits this past weekend, suggesting it won't be long until another commitment follows.
Colorado landed two three-star tight ends in its 2025 signing class: Zayne DeSouza (Loveland, Colo.) and Corbin Laisure (Johnson City, Tenn.). This upcoming season, Northwest Missouri State transfer Zach Atkins is the likely frontrunner to start at tight end. Others in the mix include Sav'ell Smalls and Brady Kopetz.
Over the past two years, Colorado's tight ends have been notoriously underutilized in the passing game. Smalls led all CU tight ends last season with 68 receiving yards and one touchdown.
