Colorado, Deion Sanders Land Key Transfer Portal Addition On Monday

Head coach Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes continue to make moves within the transfer portal ahead of the 2025 college football season.

The Buffaloes have typically been active in the transfer portal throughout Sanders' tenure, overhauling their roster on a yearly basis. In the previous two years combined, the program lost 98 players to transfer while adding 95 of their own.

That model seemingly worked in 2024. Colorado posted a 9-4 season, the school's best output since a 10-win season in 2016.

The 2025 transfer cycle is similar, as Colorado has signed 28 transfers after losing 33 players to the portal through the winter and spring windows.

Sanders and Co. made their latest addition on Monday in former Maryland offensive tackle Andre Roye Jr.

Roye (6-foot-6, 294 pounds) logged seven starts at left tackle for the Terrapins as a redshirt sophomore last season. In 16 total appearances over three seasons, Roye allowed one sack over 434 snaps.

Colorado hosted Roye, who entered the portal on April 17, for a visit over the weekend before he announced his pledge to the Buffaloes via On3.

Roye originally signed with the Terps as a three-star recruit out of St. Frances Academy in Baltimore, Maryland, in the class of 2022.

It appears that Colorado is banking on the incoming transfers to bolster an offensive line that allowed the most sacks in college football over the last two seasons. The Buffaloes have now added seven offensive lineman via transfer after losing eight at the position to the portal this cycle.

The Buffaloes will open the 2025 season at home against Georgia Tech on Aug. 29.
