When it comes to the 2026 recruiting class, it's been a relatively slow ride for the Colorado Buffaloes and head coach Deion Sanders, which isn't ideal for a team looking to bring long-term success.
However, they found themselves in a significant battle with Florida and Florida State in trying to land the services of cornerback Preston Ashley out of Brandon, Mississippi.
Things were certainly looking good for Colorado, as they hosted him for an official visit on June 20, and on June 24, On3's Hayes Fawcett reported that Ashley had committed to the Buffaloes over the Gators and Seminoles.
The cornerback would then go on to acknowledge the post that broke the news while commenting, "I’m home Sko Buffs!!"

This is, of course, huge news for the Buffaloes, as On3 Industry Rankings place Ashley as a four-star recruit, the No. 23 cornerback, the No. 11 player in Mississippi and the No. 249 player in the nation.
Last season for Brandon High School, he proved to be an effective player, appearing in 13 games, accumulating 68 tackles, three tackles for loss, one sack, two hurries, one interception, five pass deflections and one fumble recovery.
However, even with this addition, Colorado and Sanders still have a lot of work to do in order to improve their not-so-impressive 2026 recruiting class, which now has a total of just three commitments
Other than Ashley, that features three-star tight end Gavin Mueller and four-star JUCO transfer edge Domata Peko Jr. for a group that ranks No. 16 in the Big 12 (last place) and No. 90 in the nation, per On3.
