Colorado quarterback Julian Lewis has yet to make his mark in college football following his high-profile decision to join Deion Sanders’ Buffaloes as one of the most highly-touted freshman recruits this season.
Lewis’ Colorado debut was far from spectacular, with the former Carrollton High School superstar logging just 2-of-4 completed passes for eight yards in his brief cameo against Delaware in the Buffaloes’ 31-7 blowout win in Week 2.
Lewis could potentially see more snaps on Saturday when Colorado returns to Folsom Field to host Wyoming in a Week 4 clash. While nothing is guaranteed at this point, Sanders might just give Lewis more chances depending on how the Cowboys game develops.
On a personal level, Lewis announced some big news on Friday. The 17-year-old took to social media to reveal his new NIL deal with Underdog Athletix or UDX.
“The opinions of man will never be louder than the voice of God. Blessed to join the @undrdogathletix Family. ‘God’s Child’ Collection Available 9/25 #UndrdogAthletix #BringHimGlory” Lewis posted on Instagram.
Lewis’ announcement includes the launch date of his “God’s Child” apparel collection, which drops on Thursday.
UDX is a Christian sports apparel brand dedicated to supporting Christian athletes. Lewis has been vocal about his faith, which makes him a perfect ambassador for UDX, who appears to be positioning the young QB as one of the faces of their brand.
For Lewis, this move further establishes him as a big name in college football, which, of course, also entails added pressure on the young man to live up to the lofty expectations.
Lewis should get his chance with Colorado soon enough, and it would not be a surprise if he starts grabbing headlines in the near future.
