Drew Pyne’s collegiate career has followed a long and curvy road that will likely be ending at Bowling Green. According to ESPN, the Missouri transfer will be playing with the Falcons in 2025.

Pyne started his career and Notre Dame (2020-22), transferred to Arizona State (2023) before playing at Missouri last year. Pyne started his career at Notre Dame, before transferring to Arizona State and then Missouri. Prior to his stop in the SEC, he did spend another semester in South Bend in order to graduate from the school.
He enjoyed his most successful season with the Irish in 2022 when he passed for 2,021 yards, 22 touchdowns and six interceptions. In his other four seasons, Pyne combined for a total of 900 yards, seven touchdowns and six interceptions. In his one season with Missouri he completed 49 of 82 passes for 391 yards, three touchdowns and three interceptions.
With Bowling Green, Pyne will play for new head coach Eddie George, who was hired by the Falcons on March 9th. He will be the likely starter in 2025, after another incoming transfer quarterback, Justin Lamson, transferred to Montana State after the coaching change.

Nebraska holds off Cincinnati thanks to late interception
Malcolm Hartzog Jr. made an acrobatic one-hand interception in the end zone with 34 seconds remaining, sealing Nebraska's 20-17 win over Cincinnati on Thursday in Kansas City. The game was the season opener for both teams. The Bearcats got the ball with 1:36 left at their own 9-yard line after a Nebraska punt. Quarterback Brendan Sorsby guided Cincinnati to the Cornhuskers 33-yard line before Hartzog's clinching pick. It was a tight game the entire night, with the teams relying on methodical approaches to move the ball. Cornhuskers quarterback Dylan Raiola was accurate and decisive throughout the night, throwing for 243 yards and two touchdowns while completing 33 of his 42 passes. Five Cornhuskers had at least five receptions, with running back Emmett Johnson leading the way with seven receptions. Nyziah Hunter topped the team with 65 receiving yards and added a touchdown grab among his six catches. Nebraska's secondary held Sorsby in check. He had just 20 passing yards at halftime and then threw for a meager four yards in the third quarter. He finished 13-of-25 for 69 yards. However, with the passing lanes not open, Sorsby used his legs to move the Bearcats down the field in the second half. Cincinnati's second-year quarterback led the team in rushing with 96 yards on 13 attempts and scored both of his touchdowns on the ground in the second half. After not running a single play in the red zone in the first half, the Bearcats took two of their first three drives in the second half all the way to the end zone for touchdowns. Those two drives covered 57 and 75 yards. Cincinnati, though, has now lost six straight games dating back to last season and are now 8-17 with Scott Satterfield as the head coach.
Phillies' Kyle Schwarber makes all kinds of MLB history vs. Braves
Kyle Schwarber made sure his Philadelphia Phillies bounced back after being swept by the New York Mets earlier this week. Schwarber went 4-for-6 with four home runs and nine RBI in Philadelphia's 19-4 win over the Atlanta Braves on Thursday. His first home run of the night came in the first inning, a solo shot for his 46th of the season. In the fourth inning, the three-time All-Star blasted his second home run of the night (47), this time a two-run knock. Schwarber’s third long ball came in the following frame, with his 48th being a three-run homer. Finally, in the seventh inning, Schwarber hit his fourth home run (49) of the night to right field to come within one dinger of 50 for the season. The 32-year-old made all kinds of history on Thursday against the Phillies’ division rival. He already surpassed his previous career high for home runs in a single season, but also became just the fourth player in franchise history to have four homers in a game and the first since Hall of Famer Mike Schmidt did so in 1976. Additionally, Schwarber is only the 21st player in MLB history to achieve this feat, and the fifth player all-time with at least four homers and nine RBI in a game. Plus, Schwarber joined the Athletics’ Nick Kurtz and Seattle Mariners’ Eugenio Suarez as the only players to have a four-homer game this season — the first time this has occurred. Clearly, Schwarber and the Phillies were anxious to get out of Queens and return to Philadelphia. The Phillies’ offense scored just eight runs across the three-game set against the Mets. They scored 19 runs off the Braves’ pitching at Citizens Bank Park. Schwarber received “MVP” chants from Phillies fans on Thursday, and rightfully so. He’s on his way to breaking Ryan Howard’s previous franchise record of 58 home runs in a season, which earned him the 2006 National League MVP.

Some previously accused Cleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski of sabotaging the development of rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders as Stefanski kept Sanders buried on the depth chart throughout the summer. A day after it was learned that Cleveland had agreed to trade Kenny Pickett to the Las Vegas Raiders for a 2026 fifth-round draft pick, Stefanski confirmed that Sanders will enter the Week 1 matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals on Sept. 7 as the Browns' QB3 behind starter Joe Flacco and fellow first-year pro Dillon Gabriel. During a recent chat with Jason Reid of Andscape, former NFL quarterback Akili Smith explained that the tape shows Sanders is behind as it pertains to playing the sport's most important position at the highest level. "If you take some time and break down the tape, and you understand what concepts they’re running, you see that Dillon Gabriel is ahead of Shedeur," Smith said. "No one who looks at the tape of those two and understands what they’re looking at could see it any other way. Gabriel is ahead of him, and a big thing is pocket presence. Shedeur took a sack in [the last preseason] game…it was ridiculous. You had all these people [on social media] blaming the line. He’s dropping back [too far]. He had to step up in the pocket or throw the ball away. It’s one or the other." Sanders took five sacks and completed just 3-of-6 passes for 14 yards in Cleveland's preseason finale versus the Los Angeles Rams on Aug. 23. Meanwhile, Gabriel connected on 12-of-19 passes for 129 yards and a touchdown in that contest. Smith is among those who believe Gabriel’s tape from August "is just better" than what Sanders produced. Sanders took an FBS-high 94 sacks over his final two college seasons before he fell to the fifth round of the 2025 NFL Draft. In the eyes of some, his play against the Rams showed that it will take time for him to unlearn certain bad habits he picked up over the years. "Anyone who’s got such a long way to go has to keep his nose clean, not turn on the organization and keep working," Smith added. "He has to put everything he has into continuing to get better each day. And that way, even if it doesn’t happen in Cleveland, you’re still giving yourself a chance. You’d show other teams that you want this. You’d show how much it means to you. Then maybe it happens somewhere else." The Browns trading Pickett indicates they're dedicated to continuing their development of Sanders through at least the 2025 season. That said, the potential return of Deshaun Watson is looming over Sanders' status as Flacco prepares to start against Cincinnati.
Keegan Bradley opens up on the PGA Tour winner he hated leaving off the Ryder Cup team
Keegan Bradley has finalised his Ryder Cup selections, naming the six players who will join the automatic qualifiers for Team USA. The team is now set after Bradley announced his picks for Bethpage Black, and he did not include himself in the squad. Despite a solid PGA Tour year, the 39-year-old golfer finished 11th in the rankings, just missing automatic qualification. He therefore chose to focus on his captaincy duties rather than chasing a playing spot. Justin Thomas and Collin Morikawa also missed out on automatic qualification but were later added by Bradley. Keegan Bradley admits he found it tough to leave Maverick McNealy out of his Ryder Cup squad Maverick McNealy was one of the players who missed out on a spot, and Bradley addressed that shortly after announcing his selections. He said: “Very, very difficult call to Mav. Incredible kid, played well all year long. I was very upfront with the guys that hadn’t made the team. “You really have to make the team on points in your first team, it’s really difficult to get a pick in your first team event. “I made that very clear to him and he still played great. I played with him a bunch of times this year and I was really impressed with his game. “I told him it’s okay to be angry, I left these calls really angry most times. You can use this as fuel. I said please be angry with me and make the next team. Make Brandt’s [Snedeker] Presidents Cup team. “I used it as fuel for most my career and I advised Mav to do the same thing because he made a great run at making this team and ultimately that was a really tough decision.” Maverick McNealy’s PGA Tour form in 2025 McNealy had the Ryder Cup on his radar throughout the season, but fell just short of earning a place under Bradley. The 29-year-old has one PGA Tour win to his name, having taken The RSM Classic title in 2024. He nearly added another this year, finishing runner-up at The Genesis Invitational. Ludvig Aberg ended up taking the win at Torrey Pines, edging out McNealy by just one stroke. McNealy’s exclusion from this year’s team, as Bradley pointed out, could motivate him to strive for future selections. Next month, the Ryder Cup returns to New York, with the hosts looking to reclaim the trophy from Team Europe. McNealy finished 10th in American qualification, ahead of Bradley.
