The Georgia Bulldogs are hoping to get a lot more consistent quarterback play during the 2025 season. But in the program's spring game Saturday, it looked a lot like last fall.
At least that was one of the biggest takeaways from On3's Jake Rowe when he evaluated the quarterbacks , particularly Gunner Stockton, the day after the game.
"I saw good and bad from all of the quarterbacks. Gunner Stockton has garnered a lot of praise this spring for his ability to push the downfield, but he did not do that well at all in the first half," Rowe wrote. "I’d go as far as to say it was the weakest part of his game in the first two quarters."
The good news is Stockton improved as the game went.
"He caught fire in the second half, along with the rest of the Georgia offense, and made at least four excellent throws beyond 20 yards. His release also looked much more compact," wrote Rowe.
Stockton finished the afternoon completing half of his passes for 309 yards and two touchdowns with one interception.

Stockton's main competition for the starting job, Ryan Puglisi, displayed strong arm strength according to Rowe. But Rowe suggested Puglisi was also inconsistent and completed under half of his passes in the spring game.
Stockton and Puglisi are expected to continue competing for the starting job this fall. Of the two, Stockton is the only one with previous college experience.
Last season, Stockton completed 70.3% of his passes for 440 yards with one touchdown and one interception. The quarterback appeared in five games, which included a start in the College Football Playoffs quarterfinals.
