Notre Dame struck gold when former Phoenix (Az.) Brophy College Prep cornerback Benjamin Morrison committed to the Irish. Just two years into his career, he has developed into one of the top cornerbacks in all of college football.

In the 2025 recruiting class, Notre Dame is again targeting a Brophy star in standout cornerback Cree Thomas. Over the weekend, Thomas made his second trip to South Bend for their battle against USC. That game, which ended with the Irish winning 48-20, was a tremendous overall experience.

"The atmosphere at the game was incredible,” Thomas told Irish Breakdown. "It was definitely an amazing visit overall. It’s one that I’ll remember.”

Thomas also had the chance to speak with all the coaches, and develop their relationship further. The staff has made the Arizona native very aware that he is a priority for them in 2025, which continued over the weekend.

"It was awesome being able to see the coaches again,” said Thomas. "It was great talking to them in person and developing that relationship.

"The conversations were brief because they were trying to get ready for the game but I got to speak with all of them,” he continued. "They are always so great to me and my family.”

Thomas’ mother also made the trip with him to campus. She left the trip very complimentary of Notre Dame, which shouldn’t be much of a surprise.

"My mom loved the visit as well,” he said. "She couldn’t have said more great things about the program.”

There is little question that Notre Dame is a front runner for Thomas. The biggest question is when he will ultimately make a decision. While a timeline wasn’t firm while leaving the trip, a decision seems to be getting closer and closer.

"Time will tell,” Thomas stated. "I’m definitely getting closer and closer to making a decision.”

The Arizona native has quickly attracted the attention of several prominent PAC 12 schools, including holding offers from Oregon, Arizona State, Arizona and Cal early on. Thomas also holds offers from the Fighting Irish, Wisconsin and Purdue among others.

The 6-1, 170-pound cornerback is coming off of a outstanding sophomore campaign for Brophy College Prep. Thomas locked down one of the cornerback positions, finishing the season with 33 total tackles, one interception and six pass breakups. He also added in 1.5 tackles for loss and a half of a sack, while also being the team’s main kick and punt returner.

So far as a junior, Thomas has been even better. Through seven games, he has collected 22 total tackles, three interceptions and three more pass breakups. One of his interceptions was returned for a touchdown.
