Fans in Eugene don't have to worry about Dan Lanning going anywhere.

In a recent interview with Zach Gelb of Infinity Sports Network, Lanning admitted that while he once had ambitions to coach in the NFL he plans on being with the Oregon Ducks for "a long, long time."

"I still wake up and pinch myself that I get to be the head coach here. And I'll never take it for granted that they gave me that opportunity," Lanning began.

"I probably wasn't the most popular pick whenever that came out and it's certainly been a blessing for me and my family. And we're just really grateful for that opportunity to coach here in a place that's so special."

"You know it used to be a goal of mine — it certainly did. But I think at this point, everybody can realize I'm not going anywhere," the coach said.

"I love what we have here, I've got three young boys that love Eugene, we have a lot of unfinished business that we hope to handle, and I'm enjoying the ride. So this will be the place that I'm coaching for a long, long time — as long as I continue to do my job."

Lanning has the Ducks sitting at the No. 1 spot in the College Football Playoff with the chance to deliver the University of Oregon its first ever national championship.

In three seasons at Oregon, Lanning is 35-5 with a pair of bowl victories.

If he can bring the school its first national title, the 38-year-old could already cement himself as a legend in Duck Country.
