Dan Lanning Reacts as Oregon Registers Major Recruiting Win
Chris Pietsch/The Register-Guard / USA TODAY NETWORK

It's been an interesting week for the Oregon Ducks, as on Tuesday, they were passed on by five-star quarterback Ryder Lyons, who instead committed to the BYU Cougars.

However, that meant head coach Dan Lanning needed to put his efforts into other options, with one of those being quarterback Bryson Beaver out of Murrieta, California.

They brought him in for an official visit on June 20, and now it appears that Beaver has officially made his final decision, with On3's Hayes Fawcett reporting his commitment to Oregon on Wednesday.

This is exciting news, and it even drew a reaction from Lanning, who went to X to post a duck emoji just minutes after the report came out.

This could prove to be a nice addition for the Big Ten powerhouse, as On3 ranks Beaver as a four-star recruit, the No. 19 quarterback and the No. 22 player in California.

Beaver put up solid numbers for Vista Murrieta High School in the past three seasons. He appeared in 34 games, completing 492-of-818 passes for 6,458 yards, 63 touchdowns, 17 interceptions and a 102.1 quarterback rating.

What makes his decision to land with Oregon even more interesting is that Beaver had originally committed to Boise State on April 19 but backed out on June 12, which was the same day Oregon made an offer.

They certainly weren't his only option when it comes to high-powered schools, as the quarterback also had scholarships on the table from the Ole Miss Rebels, the Alabama Crimson Tide, the LSU Tigers and the Auburn Tigers.

Now, though, he becomes a critical piece to Lanning's growing 2026 recruiting class, which now ranks No. 3 in the Big Ten and No. 9 in the nation with a total of 10 commitments, per On3.
