Dane Key Chosen for Academic All-District Team

University of Kentucky wide receiver Dane Key has been recognized for his outstanding performance both on the field and in the classroom. Key has been named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team for the 2023 season.

Key, a talented sophomore hailing from Lexington, Kentucky, had an impressive season. He led the Wildcats with 553 yards receiving and was second on the team with 38 receptions. Additionally, he scored five touchdowns.

The CSC Academic All-America program acknowledges football players in four divisions – NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, and NAIA. The CSC Academic All-District teams consist of student-athletes who have demonstrated excellence in both academics and athletics. These honorees are then considered for the CSC Academic All-America ballot.

As a CSC Academic All-America finalist, Key will have the opportunity to advance to the national ballot and be voted on by CSC members. The first, second, and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced on January 23, 2024.

In addition to his academic achievements, Key and the University of Kentucky Wildcats (7-5) are set to face No. 22 Clemson (8-4) in the 79th TaxSlayer Gator Bowl on Friday, December 29, in Jacksonville, Florida. The Wildcats and the Tigers will compete at noon ET at the Bill Gay Grounds at EverBank Stadium. Fans can catch the action on ESPN.

The Wildcats are one of only eight teams in the nation, and one of three in the SEC (alongside Alabama and Georgia), to have achieved at least eight consecutive bowl appearances.
